Paper on Sulphur Hexafluoride Detection Using Photonic Crystals
Sulfur Hexafluoride is a gas well-known for its applications as an insulator in the electrical industry, however its high global warming potential makes it a great risk to the environment. As one of the most dangerous greenhouse gases, the detection and regulation of SF6 is crucial to progress in the mission to control global warming. For this purpose, I attempted to design a Sulfur Hexafluoride sensor to consist of a quantum cascade laser, a photonic crystal comprised of alternating layers of Silicon and air, and a photodiode for my project at Pioneer.
